Woodstock To Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Festival

For months now, there's been murmurings of a possible revival of Woodstock Festival to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Co-creator of the original 1969 festival Michael Lang has now confirmed in a press release that a three-day event will take place during August to commemorate the landmark year, seeing 60 artists spread over three separate stages.

Speaking to Rolling Stone Magazine, Lang said "It’ll be an eclectic bill.... It’ll be hip-hop and rock and some pop and some of the legacy bands from the original festival.” Lang went on to say that he was keen for unique collaborations with both old and new artists, with tribute performances to the artists that played the original festival such as Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.

Lang additionally wants the festival to return to its activist roots stating "We want this to be more than just coming to a concert. And hopefully, a lot of the bands will become part of this effort to get people to stand up and make themselves heard, to get out and vote."

Woodstock Music And Arts Fair 2019 will take place at Watkins Glen International, New York from 16-18 August, and the lineup announcement is expected to drop in February.

Looks like our freak flags will fly once again.
