Following a pretty spectacular debut earlier in 2019 – you can read about some of the Festicket team's personal highlights here – Tomorrowland Winter returns to French Alps next March for another magical weekend in the mountains.
So looking ahead to only the second outing for the iconic dance music festival's winter edition, we've highlighted just a handful of reasons why you should make Tomorrowland Winter your next festival destination.
Putting the snowsports element to one side for a second, there are few more picturesque and alluring places to spend a late winter weekend than in the French Alps. Nestled amid the stunning scenery of the surrounding mountains, the festival's home of Alpe d'Huez – famous not only as a ski resort but also as a regular fixture of the Tour de France – is a town replete with relaxing spas, inviting restaurants, and cosy Alpine bars.
The Skiing (or Snowboarding)
Of course, the main draw for Alpe d'Huez in the winter months is the array of options for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Spread across the resort's 236 square kilometres of skiable area are 123 runs – 38 easy, 68 intermediate, and 17 difficult – with 249 kilometres of piste and 84 ski lifts, making the resort one of the world's largest.
For those brave enough for a challenge, the resort's Sarenne run is the longest black run anywhere in the world, at 16km in length.
One thing that is perhaps even more synonymous with Tomorrowland than the huge lineups (more on that soon) is the ever-impressive commitment to staging, production, lighting, effects and more.
The summer flagship has changed the face of the festival world when it comes to the amount of time and effort put into the theming, incredible structures and eye-catching visuals that define each edition. And this is brought into the winter edition in similar style, as you can see.
Last but by no means least, as you'd probably expect from a festival organised by the Tomorrowland team, the lineup for the winter edition is absolutely packed with the biggest stars from the world of dance music; whether that's trance veterans like Armin van Buuren and Vini Vici, EDM giants such as Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike or Steve Aoki, hardstyle heroes Da Tweekaz and Coone, or leading light of modern techno Charlotte de Witte.
